IHFA announces training location host Moscow Affordable Housing Trust for homebuyer education course

MOSCOW, Idaho – (RealEstateRama) — Idaho Housing and Finance Association has announced a partnership with Moscow Affordable Housing Trust to become the training location host for its signature Finally Home! Homebuyer Education course. The first course offering is a two-night class on March 22 and 23 at the 1912 Center in Moscow, and goes from 5:30-9:00 p.m.

The classes, which are specifically designed to guide first-time homebuyers through the home buying process, include tips for selecting a REALTOR, understanding credit scores, and how to qualify for the best loan. Upon completion, graduates may qualify for programs such as down payment and closing cost assistance, higher debt ratio programs, lower mortgage insurance premiums and “gifted funds” at closing.“Moscow and Lewiston area residents who are thinking of buying a home should definitely sign up for the Finally Home! classes,” said Heather Bowman, homebuyer education and counseling administrator for Idaho Housing. “Graduates tell us the class was essential in helping them get into their first home, and are frequently surprised at the money-saving strategies they learned.”

The classes are offered monthly and are scheduled through May:

Finally Home! Homebuyer Education is a program of Idaho Housing and Finance Association. Since Finally Home! started in 1999, more than 45,000 Idahoans have graduated. In 2015, a record 5557 people took advantage of this important class helping them to avoid costly mistakes in the home buying process.

Classes are held monthly at seven statewide locations. Registration fees vary from $10 to $20 and can be paid at the door with cash or check. The fee includes a textbook; no childcare is provided.
