IDAHO FALLS, ID – June 29, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Property owners, managers, landlords, and those involved in real estate in Eastern Idaho are encouraged to attend a free landlord workshop hosted by Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA). The workshop, which will focus on the Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program and feature information from the Idaho Falls Police Department, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 15 at IHFA’s Idaho Falls office, 506 S. Woodruff.
“Landlords will learn about the benefits of participating in the Voucher program and get some valuable information from the Idaho Falls Police Department.” said Craig Stoddard, IHFA Idaho Falls Branch Office Supervisor. “I encourage landlords in the area to attend.”
The Idaho Falls Police Department will provide drug awareness training, and landlords will learn about updated regulations for the voucher program. IHFA administers Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). To be eligible for rental assistance, households must apply to a waiting list, qualify under HUD income limits, and meet other eligibility criteria. If eligible, the household would pay approximately 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities. In 2009, IHFA’s branch offices administered more than $14 million in rental assistance. Approximately 3,600 eligible families benefitted from this investment.
IHFA’s four branch offices, located in Twin Falls, Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, and Idaho Falls, administer the Housing Choice Voucher program and conduct landlord workshops regularly.
