Senator Mike Crapo and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan to Headline Bipartisan Policy Center Housing Commission’s Public Forum in Sun Valley, Idaho
Event to Feature Local and National Housing Experts Discussing Idaho Area Market Trends, Housing Finance Reform, Innovation in Rural Housing, Role of Small Banks and Community Lenders, and the future of the Federal Housing Administration
WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 19, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) Housing Commission will host a public forum on pressing local and national housing issues at the Sun Valley Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Idaho ranks among the top five states with the highest increase in home prices. Over the first quarter of last year, home prices in Idaho climbed 15 percent. Other states topping the list include Arizona, California, Nevada and Hawaii.

This timely forum will feature Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee Senator Mike Crapo, U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan, former HUD Secretary Henry G. Cisneros and former Senator Kit Bond, both co-chairs of the BPC Housing Commission, and former U.S. Representative Rick Lazio. Leading local, regional and national housing experts will also discuss the state of U.S. housing, current market trends, innovation in rural housing and the role of small banks and community lenders.
This event is the eighth regional public forum hosted by the BPC Housing Commission. In February, the commission issued a report, Housing America’s Future: New Directions for National Policy, which offers policy recommendations on how to tackle the near-term and long-term challenges in the housing sector. Throughout 2013, the commission will visit different regions of the country to discuss the local and national impact of its recommendations.
