BOISE – April 8, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Free Finally Home!â in-person Homebuyer Education classes will be held across Idaho during the month of May. Specifically designed for first-time homebuyers, these classes take students through the home buying process step-by-step from helping them select the right REALTORâ for their needs to understanding the loan application process.
The class is best taken in the early stages of the home buying process, and upon completion, graduates may qualify for financial incentives including down payment and closing cost assistance, higher debt ratio programs, lower mortgage insurance premiums and “gifted funds” at closing. “Taking Finally Home!â can help buyers learn money saving tips that many first-time buyers are unaware of” says IHFA Homebuyer Education/Counseling Administrator Heather Bowman.
Participants who have taken the course have been able to obtain helpful home buying information such as understanding credit scores and how to qualify for a loan. One said “It was a great introduction into the home buying world”. Another attendee echoed that sentiment. “The lender answered lots of questions, and the instructor was very thorough. I enjoyed it all and am inspired about the process”. Since Finally Home!â Homebuyer Education started in 1999, more than 40,000 Idahoans have graduated. In 2014, a record 3,597 people took advantage of this important class helping them to avoid costly mistakes in the home buying process.
In-person classes during the month of May are free. Registration fees for the class are usually $20 per student. Classes are held monthly at six statewide locations. The class may be taken on-line as well at finallyhomecourse.com. The registration fee is $50. Curriculum is available in English and Spanish.
