Simpson Challenges Obama on EPA Cap and Trade Regulations

Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson signed an amicus curiae, or “friend of the court” brief in support of 27 states that challenged the Environmental Protection Agency’s rule on existing power plants. The Clean Power Plant rule was recently stayed by the U.S. Supreme Court and is awaiting further consideration by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia.

A Treasure Valley businesswoman who has helped homeless veterans and immigrants with critical housing needs will be presented the Spirit of Idaho Award by Idaho Senator Mike Crapo this Friday.  Joy Schweitzer, the daughter of a World War II veteran, has used her company, Around the Town, to find more than three-dozen homeless vets a place to live.  Crapo created the award to recognize Idahoans who go beyond the norm to help others.

Mercy Loan Fund (MLF), a leading Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), announced that it has partnered with its parent organization, Mercy Housing, Inc. (MHI), one of the nation’s largest developers of and managers of affordable housing, to preserve 55 affordable homes at Hawthorne Village Apartments. Idaho Housing and Finance Association announces annual Point-In-Time (PIT) count of homeless

Idaho Housing and Finance Association is announcing the 2016 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count scheduled for today, Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Idaho Housing will collect and publish the data gathered by over 200 volunteers, with 50 organizations assisting in surveying communities across the state to document the sheltered and unsheltered homeless population and their needs.
