Crapo to Honor Idahoan Helping Homeless Vets; Note Teen Dating Violence Awareness Efforts

Speaks to Idaho House & Senate Tuesday

Boise – February 19, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — A Treasure Valley businesswoman who has helped homeless veterans and immigrants with critical housing needs will be presented the Spirit of Idaho Award by Idaho Senator Mike Crapo this Friday.  Joy Schweitzer, the daughter of a World War II veteran, has used her company, Around the Town, to find more than three-dozen homeless vets a place to live.  Crapo created the award to recognize Idahoans who go beyond the norm to help others.

Crapo will address the Idaho State Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday morning.

The efforts of Canyon County students, educators and professionals will be noted by Crapo on Wednesday as part of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week.  Crapo, the lead Senate Republican sponsor to renew the Violence Against Women Act, will join Advocates Against Family Violence in Caldwell for an event raising awareness about an issue facing students and Idaho teens.

Friday, February 19:

1:30 PM         Boise             Presents Spirit of Idaho Award to Joy Schweitzer and  Around the Town for help to homeless veterans.  Local veteran Don Peebles will speak.  At Crapo’s Boise Office, 251 E. Front Street, Suite 205.
