CRAPO TO DISCUSS RENEWABLE ENERGY EFFORTS, CELEBRATE OPENING OF ENERGY RESEARCH FACILITY

Washington, DC – February 19, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Idaho Senator Mike Crapo, Co-Chair of the Senate Renewables and Energy Efficiency Caucus, will meet with Idaho energy experts, local mayors and others on Thursday to discuss renewable energy initiatives before the Congress, funding and the potential impacts for Idaho. During visits in Southeast Idaho, Crapo will present his Spirit of Idaho Award and visit with area high school government classes, including students who received tickets from Crapo’s office for the inauguration swearing-in ceremony of President Obama.

Crapo will attend the dedication of the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) in Idaho Falls on Friday. The Center is a new facility designed to allow INL and state university research personnel to better collaborate on energy issues and research. Crapo’s schedule is subject to change but highlights include:

Thursday, February 19th:

11:50 a.m. Pocatello Speaks to Century High School students, 7801 Diamondback Drive

1:00 p.m. Fort Hall Presents Spirit of Idaho Award to Wiley Peterson for his efforts to raise funds for the Toys for Tots program. Peterson is a professional bull rider who finished fourth in the world rankings. At the Fort Hall Reservation Council Chambers on Pima Drive.

1:45 p.m. Pocatello Speaks to Highland High School students, some of whom received tickets to the Obama swearing-in ceremony from Crapo’s office. At 1800 Bench Road.

2:45 p.m. Pocatello Speaks to Pocatello High School students, 325 N. Arthur.

3:30 p.m. Pocatello Presents Spirit of Idaho Award to Conner Magnuson, who asked that gifts be delivered to U.S. troops in lieu of him receiving presents for his seventh birthday. The gifts, enough to fill a closet at Deleta Skating, were donated to those who served with fallen Idaho soldiers Sgt. Blake Stephens, Sgt. Nick Gummersall and Sgt. Eric Morris. At Holy Spirit Catholic School, 540 N. 7th Avenue.

5:00 p.m. Chubbuck Meets with the leadership of area energy companies, mayors of Pocatello and Chubbuck concerning energy development and related busnesses at the Gateway Industrial Park, 669 W. Quinn Road. Meeting at Idaho Central Credit Union Administrative Building, 4400 Central Way, Chubbuck.

Friday, February 20th:

2:00 p.m. Idaho Falls Participates in the dedication ceremony for the new Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) at the Idaho National Laboratory. Media availability at 3:00 p.m. at the Center at 995 University Boulevard.
