2009 Idaho Conference on Housing Idaho Department of Finance Offers Information about Mortgage Industry

October 13, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Gavin Gee, director of the Idaho Department of Finance, announced his department’s participation as a co-sponsor in the “2009 Idaho Conference on Housing,” scheduled for October 19th and 20th at the Doubletree Hotel in Boise, Idaho. This event is organized by Idaho Housing and Finance Association. The Idaho Conference on Housing entitled “Mapping the Future” is the state’s largest and most comprehensive housing conference that will encompass important issues facing Idaho’s housing industry and the challenges set forth in the current economic environment.

“This event will be invaluable to everyone who has an interest in Idaho’s housing market,” stated Gee. “It will be an excellent opportunity for housing representatives, private and public industry, as well as the general public to discuss emerging trends in the current housing market and to listen to experts in the field of economics and housing.”

The Department of Finance will sponsor an educational booth at the conference and Anthony Polidori, Supervising Investigator with the department, will participate as a panelist to discuss mortgage fraud in Idaho. Department staff will be on hand to provide information about the new multi-state mortgage licensing system and the requirements under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act). In addition, all attendees can obtain a variety of informational brochures on home mortgage loans, foreclosure modification resources, and other valuable topics related to housing finance.

Speakers at the two-day conference will include keynote speaker Lawrence Yun, national economist, as well as Mike Ferguson, Idaho’s Chief Economist. In addition, the conference will provide informative workshops on a variety of housing issues. Workshop speakers will include, among others, the mayors of Eagle, Nampa, Meridian, and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
